beats

Since 2014 I am presenting music under this name. It is my alter ego, for my appearance on weeklybeats. You can find more than 160 releases from 2014 until today. I know, it is very much stuff and it takes a hole day to listen to it. The name Q-Rosh describes something like a Q-Tip, only much bigger.

It is impossible to load all my tracks up here. I offer you the link, where you can find the songs and read the notes and background- informations concerning the songs. Other weeklybeat artists often leave comments to the songs. This are very nice and motivating feedbacks.

The download is free for everybody.

Some appetizer:

Tulla Sound System

I started homerecording in 1996 with a 4-Track recorder. I was living in the Tulla street and working with my kind of “sound system”. This made the name complete. I just had learned how to play guitar in an autodidactic manner and found a drumtraks drum-machine for the beat. In addition to this, I used a Solina String Ensemble and made heavy use of a Morley Flanger-Pedal and some other effects. It was experimental, but the tracks came out nicely. With the support of my friend D-Man, We released “Kassettenclassics” as an 12″album on the 800-Achtspur Label.

Recording at home was fun and I upgraded my system with the 8-track fostex machine, because 4 tracks are really not much and I wanted to go stereo. The songs were mastered on DAT. With the Mastertape, I copied the 90 minutes of music on cassettes and created a sleeve and cover. I named it “easydelic” and “heavylistening”. I gave most of those tapes to friends and even sold some of the cassettes via  NORMAL-mailorder in cologne. I just found out, that my tape was noticed on discogs. Someone was very friendly, to mention it there.

Another release on 800-Achtspur was a split-single in 1999, together with Jason, who ran this Label. The Song was kind of a house track, made with analog instruments.

After the year 2000 I loved to play with midi instruments and sequencers. I was recording on a roland VS 8-track Recorder. A bunch of songs I liked, were burned on CD. I never really wanted to release or sell this stuff. I designed a cover for the CD for fun, called it “Audiocomics” and 14 years later I took the chance, to come out with the music on weeklybeats.

Bergheim 34

The best part of my my carrier as a hobby-musician, was the time with my friends, when we formed the band Bergheim 34. We were all students in Heidelberg, jamming together and occasionally recorded the results on DCC or with the Roland VS. Everyone of us still makes music today, more or less professional. That proves our intense love to music.

One of the bandmates went back to the US with a cassette of our songs in his luggage. He played the music to friends and they freaked out and wanted to release the stuff there. This was very OK for all of us. We mastered the tracks as good as possible in Germany and sent it to New York, where the Label “First Love” made a very nice CD in 1998 and invited us, to go on tour in the USA, what we did in the beginning of the year 1999. the CD was self-titled.

After the release and the promotion tour of the Bergheim 34 CD, we got in contact with the Klang Elektronik-Label in Frankfurt, that is well known for awesome electronic music. They liked the CD and wanted to bring out the record and additional tracks on vinyl only. This sounded nice and we suddenly had another contract. This became our 1999:

“sechstrack LP”

The deal was to bring out one more full length album and 3 EPs for Klang Elektronik. We also did remixes for other musicians and had remixes of our songs by wonderful artists. Our double-album in 2003 on vinyl was called:

“its not for you, as it is for us”
